Counseling Center
Counselors
Welcome to the Counseling Center!
We look forward to working with you. Our goal is to help you prepare for graduation and to move into an interesting and meaningful career. We do this by helping you register for the classes that you need, advising you on subjects such as testing, college readiness, career readiness and connecting you to the resources that help you succeed.
Counselors are out of the office for the summer. Below are some resources and a couple of FAQs.
Summer School
If your student failed all or some of their core classes, they should plan to attend summer school. They should come on June 5 at 8am. Summer School will run throughout the month of June, Monday-Thursday from 8am-11am. There will be teachers there to assist your student in making sure they are working on the correct credits.
Online Classes
If your student wants to take online classes, they need to sign up on their mydsd by selecting 'Academics' then 'Summer Course Request' before June 4. If you have any issues with Davis Connect classes or need to add more during the summer, you will want to contact Davis Connect directly at davisconnectoffice@dsdmail.net. The last day for coursework to be completed for summer online courses is August 2nd. For more information Click Here.
If you would like to request an online class for the upcoming school year, you will need to wait until August, and can request online classes on the Counseling Center website under 'Sign Up for Online Classes'.
Grading Discrepancies
If you find an error in your student's final grades, you will need to reach out the the teacher issuing the grade. Keep in mind that most teachers are out for the summer, but will be able to review your inquiry in the fall. Counselors will not be able to assist with grading discrepancies.
Schedule Changes
Course Requests are now closed. We will be unable to make any changes to student schedules until they are released in August. We will have class change phone appointments open August 9-11 for students with holes in their schedules or errors. Look on the counseling center webpage to schedule phone appointments for those days.
Transcripts
If you need to request a final transcript, you will need to do so on the school webpage under Students and Parents>Counseling Center>Transcript Requests.
Emergency Resources
If you need help during the summer, you should utilize the SafeUT helpline (833-372-3388) or contact the local police. They will be able to provide you with the help you need.
